Welcome to Thanet Big Sing Community Choir
The Thanet Big Sing Community choir is proud to be the resident choir at the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate since 2011.
We are an inclusive choir, open to ages 16 years and over and welcome all new members.
Under the expert guidance of our Musical Director, Edward Greenhalgh, the choir rehearses every Tuesday evening at the Turner Contemporary from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. during term times.
We offer potential new members a free taster rehearsal session to come along and find out more about us, so do get in touch. We would be delighted to show you what a wonderful experience it can be to belong to our choir.
No audition is necessary and choir members are not required to read music or indeed have any choral or musical experience at all.
The Big Sing performs at various events throughout the year including supporting The Turner Contemporary at their exhibition launches and seasonal celebrations and also at other venues locally and further afield.
The choir sings a wide variety of music from popular to light classical, music from the Shows and also commissions new works for special events.
We also have a number of social occasions throughout the year and many friendships have been formed and kept as a result of joining The Big Sing Choir.
We charge a small subscription fee for each rehearsal session to offset our expenses, but in exceptional cases of hardship, this can be waived. Song sheets or musical scores are provided free of charge for every piece we do.
The Thanet Big Sing Community Choir is well known for being a friendly and supportive choir and a warm welcome awaits.
If you would like to find out what fun it can be to sing amidst a friendly group of lively people whilst looking at the beautiful seascapes that JMW Turner painted, then please go to the contacts section of this website and get in touch.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
